Meet Grace Patricia Kelly, born November 12, 1929, an American actress who leveled up to Princess of Monaco after marryin’ Prince Rainier III in April ’56. She kicked off her actin’ career in 1950 at 20, hittin’ the stage in New York City and poppin’ up in over 40 episodes of live drama shows durin’ the early ‘50s Golden Age of TV.
In October ’53, she blew up with her role in Mogambo, snaggin’ a Golden Globe and an Oscar nod in ’54. She starred in five major flicks, includin’ The Country Girl, where her raw performance locked in an Oscar for Best Actress. Other gigs include High Noon with Gary Cooper, Dial M for Murder with Ray Milland, Rear Window with James Stewart, To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant, and High Society with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.
At 26, she hung up her actin’ hat to marry Rainier and take on Princess of Monaco duties. They had three kids: Caroline, Albert, and Stéphanie. She kept her American roots, rockin’ dual U.S. and Monégasque citizenship. Sadly, she passed on September 14, 1982, a day after a stroke while drivin’ caused her car to crash.
