Patty Duke, born December 14, 1946, in New York City – died March 29, 2016, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was an American actress. She achieved fame as a child star, winning an Academy Award for her role in The Miracle Worker (1962). Duke later starred in The Patty Duke Show (1963–1966), where she played dual roles. Over her career, she appeared in numerous films and television productions, earning multiple Emmy Awards. She was also active in mental health advocacy after being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
