Margaret Qualley, who’s made waves in projects like “Once upon a Time in Hollywood” and “The Maid’s Chambers”, totally blew minds in 2024 with her nude role in the wild thriller “The Substance”. Director Coralie Fargeat crafted a straight-up visual nightmare with some serious body horror vibes, and with Qualley and Demi Moore on board, the film became one of the most talked-about premieres of the year.
The scenes where the heroines are totally checking out their bodies, getting naked, and facing the harsh realities of aging and transformation are epic. What’s even more interesting is that for the filming, Qualley used breast prostheses to really drive home the point about how fake the whole image is.
Sure. Her tits have grown three times since last summer. OR she’s using prosthetic boobs in the film just as she’s already stated in interviews. So much for ”nude”. Her ass is real though.

There isn't a single shot in the entire movie that shows her butt and then her face; it's ALL close-ups or long shots of her butt (and there are many), then cuts to her face. It's 90% certain that's a body double. Very disappointing, but otherwise a fantastic movie.
FWIW, based on Kinds of Kindness, her breasts have at least doubled since Donnybrook, and that music video with Shia LaBeouf. Luckily, she's not as thin anymore.
100% those are her legs, feet, and butt. Even the tailor’s bunions she got from messing up her feet as a dancer match. And why would she use a body double? She’s totally fine with tons of nudity. Topless, full frontal, butt, anything goes. She’s not using fake breasts to hide her real ones like some fancy tit-merkins; they’re there for the character.
Fuck her and the director. If you won't actually do nudity, don't take the part.
I don't think she has any problem with nudity but for the plot to work the fake tits might have been necessary because the other girl she is playing Demi Moore, has much larger tits so maybe it was a continuity thing like with that Pamela Anderson show where the real person has a much larger chest than the actress portraying her.
That's exactly why they did it, but the problem with that is Demi Moore clearly has implants in her nude scene. It would have made much more sense, and been really clever, for her double to have her natural-sized breasts. Basically, the movie is asking me to believe Demi Moore's breasts are real, when I have eyes and can see they're not.
It says right there and she's said in interviews they're fake as part of the film. Pay attention it helps butt pirate.

I have no problems with her getting naked whenever and however she wants! I do hope these are only breast enhancements for the film and not in real life, as her breasts were absolutely divine perfectly as they were.

I initially thought the third act should have been trimmed a little, but that issue disappeared upon my second viewing. And yes, this film is worth seeing twice in a theatre.
"Megapolis" isn’t quite as good as this film, but, contrary to the foolish critics, still very good.
